BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The Board is responsible for the governance of TBNZ
as defined in the TBNZ constitution. The Board comprises
of four elected directors and the Chief Executive
Officer (CEO). The CEO is appointed by the elected
directors. Although one of the elected directors live
in each of the regions defined as Northern, Central
North Island, Lower North Island, and South Island,
they do not have regional responsibilities and carry
out their duties for the benefit of all TBNZ members
and bowling throughout New Zealand. The members of
the Board can be found by using the link to Job Descriptions.
MANAGEMENT
TEAM
The CEO and the Management Team are responsible for
the completion of all the hard work that must be done
to keep bowling in New Zealand moving forward. All
the Management Team members are volunteers and must
carry out their duties while meeting the demands of
their working lives, family lives, and often active
participation in bowling. Without continuing huge
sacrifices by these people, TBNZ would not be able
to be in the position that it is. The members of the
Management Team can be found by using the link to
Job Descriptions.
TBNZ
WEBSITE
This TBNZ website is the main means of communicating
all TBNZ information to its members.
FUNDING
TBNZ receives funding from Sponsor Centres, individual
member fees, tournament levies, and charitable grants.
SPONSOR
CENTRES
All sponsor centres pay TBNZ $50 per lane, per year.
The sponsor centre funding is vital and enables TBNZ
to provide essential services to its bowlers such
as governance, accredited tournaments, and coach development.
Sponsor centre funding also allows the TBNZ volunteers
to spend their precious time delivering services,
rather than fund raising.
The
current sponsor centres as at 2011 are

MEMBERSHIP
All league bowlers in a sponsor centre are automatically
members of TBNZ, when the centre representative provides
all the bowler’s details to be included in the
TBNZ membership database. Bowlers in non-sponsor centres
can become a member of TBNZ by paying an annual membership
fee of $20.
COACHING
The TBNZ has its own coaching program that is based
on the content and structure of the system developed
and used by Tenpin Bowling Australia (TBA). A TBNZ
accredited coach is absolutely equivalent to a TBA
accredited coach at the same level. TBNZ can currently
provide training at Level 1 and below. Higher level
courses are available as part of TBA’s coaching
program.
TBNZ’S NATIONAL EVENTS
TBNZ runs the following annual tournaments
• Junior and Youth National Championships
• National Youth Teams Championships
• National Championships
• National Adult Teams Championships
INTERNATIONAL
COMPETITIONS
TBNZ’s participation in international competitions
is determined by the current selection policy. Wherever
possible, certain team performance indicators must
be met before approval will be given to send a team
to an international competition. TBNZ does not use
any of its funds to help pay for bowlers, teams, or
officials to attend international competition. However,
where possible, TBNZ will apply for grants from charitable
organisations to help meet the costs of bowlers, teams,
or officials to attend TBNZ approved international
tournaments.
NATIONAL
TRAINING SQUADS
National Training Squads exist for male and
female bowlers in Junior/Youth, Adult, and Senior
(50 and over) age groups. Bowlers earn positions in
a training squad according to the prevailing selection
policy.
INTERNATIONAL
AFFILIATION
TBNZ has affiliation to:
• World Tenpin Bowling Federation (WTBA)
• Asian Bowling Federation (ABF)
• Commonwealth Tenpin Bowling Federation (CTBF)
• New Zealand Olympic Committee (NZOC)
• Sport and Recreation New Zealand (SPARC)
POLICIES
Wherever possible, TBNZ is administered with reference
to Playing Rules and a number
of Policies. The current
policies can be found on this website.
