National Youth Squad member Patrick Chan achieves another of his goals by becoming Men's National Champion for 2005.

At the recent Tenpin Bowling New Zealand Championships in Tauranga, Patrick placed 3rd in the Singles event with a pinfall of 1266, a 211 average.

In the Doubles, partnered with Shane Mahoni, Patrick bowled 713 an average of 237 to win first place. Together with Phil Wright, Craig Nevatt, Jason Waters and his brother Perry, Patrick also gained first place in the Teams event with a 213 average.

Combining these scores, Patrick placed first in the All Events with a total of 2619 at an average of 218 pins per game. On the final day of matchplay, Patrick continued with his fine form to win 11 games and lose only 4, with some tough competition from National Squad members Craig Nevatt and David Davies.

After an outstanding weekend of bowling Patrick won the title of Men's Open Class National Champion for 2005, and with it gaining a place in the NZ Team to compete in the Walter Rachuig Trophy to be held at Illawara Strikezone, Sydney in November and also automatic entry into the Australian Masters Tournament.
